Michael Clayton to start week 2

With Antonio Bryant likely out with a knee injury, Michael Clayton is the main man in Tampa. I expect a big fantasy performance this sunday against the bills for Michael. Cornerback Terence McGee is questionable with knee problems, and cornerback Drayton Florence is also lingering knee problems, which leads me to belive Michael Clayton will have great matchups. He showed a good performance last week with 5 catches for 93 yards, and i expect those numbers to rise this sunday. Michael Clayton is a good pickup for anyone lacking value at wide receiver.

Player to watch- Devery Henderson

Devery Henderson proved last sunday that he is not only a 3rd receiver, but a deep threat down field. He has explosive speed and is a defensive backs nightmare after the catch. He showed great flash against the lions, racking up over 100 yards and a touchdown. The presense of M.Colston definitly helps his value. With him back from injury, defensive backs will have to focouse more on him and L.Moore. This sunday against the Eagles he will be mostly lined up against former patriot, Ellis Hobbs. He is a tough corner, and wont be easy to beat. This will be a true test for Devery Henderson this sunday.

Player to watch- Hank Baskett

With Anthony Gonzalaz down, Hank Baskett will make an imediate impact on the Colts offense. Hank showed great potential with the Eagles but there was just to much depth on the Eagles depth chart with Desean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, Jeremy Maclin, Reggie Brown, and Jason Avant. I expect to see solid fantasy value for Hank Baskett, and a lot of touchdowns as a redzone threat. If your lacking value on your fantasy team with Receivers, add Hank Baskett.

Thursday, September 17, 2009

Player to watch- Peyton Manning

With Anthoney Gonzalaz out with an injury, and Marvin Harrison no longer on the team, you have to wonder if Peyton can still perform at an elite levle. How will he react with only one big threat receiver in Reggie Wayne? This is his worst receiving core since 2000, when he threw for 4413 yards and 26 touchdowns and 23 interseptions. So i expect Peyton to be the same Peyton your used to watch play. The additon of former Eagles WR Hank Baskett should make an impact. He brings great size (6'4) and is a deep threat down field. Peyton Manning will still perform at a high levle without A.Gonzalez or M.Harrison.

Stay away from Larry Fitzgerald

The madden curse has already taken its tole on Troy palumalu, and Larry Fitzgerald is next. Palumalu injured his shoulder and is out 3-6 weeks. If you still dont beleive in the madden curse, tell that to Eddie George,(bust) Daunte Cullpepper, (most interseptions in NFL) Marshell Faulk, (injury) Michael Vick, (injury, and jail) Ray Lewis, (injury) Donovan McNabb, (injury,no superbowl win yet) Shaun Alexander, (bust and loss of starting job) Vince Young, (bust and loss of starting job) Brett Favre, (loss of respect from fans, and the NFL,and poor performance) and now Troy Palumalu (injury). Look out Larry Fitzgerald your going to be next on the list.

Rookie All Stars

QB M.Sanchez- The jets first round pick and starting QB,should see solid numbers this year. He has a solid backfield with Thomas Jones and occasionaly Leon Washington at Runningback, led by the most elite fullback in the NFL,Tony Richardson. The running game will open up the pass, and give Mark Sanchez more oppurtunitys to make big plays. Plus, the Jets coach Rex Ryan loves to pass so you will see a lot of oppurtunity for Mark.

RB C.Wells- My favorite player out of the NFL draft is sure to put up above average numbers in Arizona. All he has to compete with is Tim Hightower, and he is not much more than a goal line threat. With the amazing passing game led by Kurt Warner you will see a lot of openings for Chris Beanie Wells.

RB L.Mcoy- With Brian Westbrooks health always a question mark, you will see quite a bit of Lesean Mcoy next season. Also, with out Correll Buckhalter or Lorenzo Booker in the mix,the only truely talented back up to Westbrook is Mcoy. So by assumption that Westbrook will get injured,Lesean is the man in philly.

WR H.Nicks- He showed amazing flash in presean, and i expect him to emerege as Mannings #1 target by week 8 of this season. He is extreamly talented, and once he is a starter he will start putting up Plaxico Burress type numbers.

WR D.H.Bey- The only player that has play making ability on the Raiders offense is Darius Heyward Bey. He has the speed and size to make big plays down field and in the redzone. The mixture of Jamarcuss Russles arm strength and Beys speed will be fun to watch. You can also expect D.H.Bey to be Jamarcuss Russles #1 target.

WR J.Maclin- The Eagles coaching staff does such an amazing job at devolping young receivers. Maclin has a lot of talent, and has all the tools around him to be productive on the Eagles. My only concern is his route running. He has a very hard time creating seperation from defenders. Once he improves on that,he will be a big threat to opposing deffences.

TE B.Pettigrew- With the #1 QB out of the draft, and #1 Tight end out of the draft, all of the sudden the Lions have some talent. Brandon can block and catch, making him a very balanced tight end and a threat to all deffences. Calvin Johnson should attract coverage towards him, rusulting in an open tight end.

Donovan McNabb far underrated

Donovan has the 3rd most wins in the NFL (current) by the quarterback position. He is only behind Tom Brady and Peyton manning when it comes to wins. He has the most wins in Philadelphia Eagles history at the quarterback position, and has the #1 TD-INT rating in the NFL. You rarely see Donovan McNabb throw an interception. Now,with the strongest receiver core he has ever had,you can expect Donovan's value to rise, not decrease. And thats not all. He's coming into the season healthy! He wants to win a superbowl bad. He even said that he would trade away his whole success in the NFL,and trade it for a super bowl ring. He threw impressive numbers last year (over 3900 yards) and you can expect that to rise. Donovan McNabb doesnt get enough credit, and I beleive he will suprise fantasy football owners, and the NFL.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Matt Stafford named starter- Awful desicion

One way to make a record is to start your rookie quarterback, and watch your team go 0-16 back to back years. What this team needs is a veteran quarterback like Daunte Cullpepper. A quarterback who has experiance and knows what he is doing on the football field. I could understand if the rookie quarterback had talent around him,but in detroit he isnt going to find much. Sure,he has Calvin Johnson, but the offensive line needs seriouse help. Since Calvin Johnson is a deep threat that will need time to get down field,Matt Stafford wont have enough time to throw the ball to him because the offensive line will collapse and let the deffensive line through. This is a great way to traumatize your franchise quarterback. Throw him in their with a bunch of unknown players, and watch him get killed. The lions made a horrible decision. Give Matt Stafford the time to learn the playbook, the offense, and so forth. Also let the team progress and build before you throw in the #1 overall draft pick. If the Lions coaching staff really thinks Stafford will get the job done, they are wrong. He just doesnt have the talent around him,and the experiance to point this 0-16 team in the rite direction. The Lions will be lucky to win 3 games this season,if not 0.

Take a chance on Jamaal Lewis

He is definitly old,but he beleives he still has gas in the tank. And dont forget that it was only 2 years ago where he reached 1300 yards. Im suprised he is ranked so far down in most fantasy rankings, when he still reached 1000 yards rushing last season. Theres no one really competing with him,and his coach loves down hill runners like Jamaal Lewis. If you think Jamaal Lewis is done, you are wrong. He is still a solid option at RB,and expect him to put up solid numbers. He fits perfectly in the coaches scheme. Plus, since the Browns passing game is still crap,he will be in on almost all of the plays.

Rookie Chris Beanie Wells

The guy is a beast. He's big,he's fast, and he is strong. A bruising runner up the middle, who i think has the talent and oppurtunity to become a starter. Tim Hightower is solid but I just cant see him holding off Beanie Wells for the starting job for more than a few games. Beanie looked impressive in his preseason game, taking 7 carries for 46 yards and 2 touchdowns. Eventually he is going to get the starting job at RB this season,so dont pass on him in your fantasy league. If he hasnt been productive the first 3 weeks of football season, still hold on to him. Once he is a starter he will be an imediate impact to the cardinals offense, and your fantasy team.

NFC East predictions

NFC east
#1 Eagles- With a healthy Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook, this is a superbowl calibar team. The eagles made two key offseason additions by adding linemen Stacey Andrews and Jason Peters. This is an upgrade that will give McNabb more time to throw, and he will be less injury prone because he wont get sacked as much. The defense is still outstanding despite the loss of defensive coordinator Jim Johnson and FS Brian Dawkins. The D line is filled with depth, and MLB Stewart Bradly is emerging as an elite football player. My biggest concern is the loss of Brian Dawkins. Can Sean Jones really fill that void?

#2 Giants- Despite Plaxico Burress gone, the giants still have a lot of options at WR that have good potential. I really like Hakeem Nicks and I expect him to eventually become Eli Mannings number 1 target. Dont expect the running game to be as effective though, because the loss of Derrick Ward to the Buccaneers. The Giants have the best defensive line in the NFL,with Osi and Justin Tuck. My biggest worry is the run game. Can B.Jacobs and A.Bradshaw get the job done?

#3 Cowboys- The loss of T.Owens will make an imediate impact. Roy williams is solid, but he wont completly fill that WR void. Im not a fan of this team, and I think a lot of people in Dallas will be dissapointed this year.

#4 Redskins- An adequete team that I just dont see making a playoff run. Clinton Portis still has a lot of health issues, and Jason Cambell doesnt seem all that great of a QB. This will be a devolping year for the redskins,so dont expect more than 8 wins.

LaDainian Tomlinson far underrated

LT seems to be just fine recovering from an injury, and him and his coach Norv Turner make that very clear. LT still beleives he is the best running back in the NFL,stating that he doesnt have any weaknesses. He said he expects to be just as fast as the other players out on the field, despite being 30 years old. Sure,he may lose a few carries to 5'6 speedy runningback Darren Sproles, but i look at that as a positve thing. This means LT will be fresh on just about every play and not as much of a concern for injury. I actually expect that Sproles will help LTs fantasy value, rather than decreasing it. LT is highly motivated, and says he is ready for the season. LT is out to prove he is still the best, and i encourage you not to pass him up on draft day.

NFC North predictions

NFC North
#1 Vikings- If not for key offseason addition of Brett Favre,i wouldnt be putting the Vikings at the top. The past few years the Vikings have had all the talent necessary for a superbowl run,but have been stopped short because of lack of talent at the quarterback position. Now,with future hall of famer Brett Favre, the Vikings are almost sure handed to make the playoffs if not the superbowl. My only concern is the suspensions of Pat and Kevin Williams. The loss of those two run stuffers would be a great loss.

#2 Packers- Aaron Rogers looked very impressive last year, and I expect even better performance this year with more experiance. He definatly has the targets to have a huge fantasy year and possible playoff run with Greg Jennings,Donald Driver, and second year player Jordy Nelson. My biggest concern for the Packers is there awful pass defense, who rated dead last in terms of passing yards allowed.

#3 Bears- Untill Jay Cutler gets a clear cut #1 receiver (not Devin Hester) i dont see much production from this passing game. Matt Forte had an amazing rookie season last year, and theres no reason not to repeat last season. The defense is solid, although i am not sure who will fill the void of saftey Mike Brown.

#4 Lions- Dont expect the Lions to have a big comeback season. They have question marks at the QB position on deciding whether to start rookie M.Stafford or veteran D.Cullpepper. Kevin Smith proved himself last year as a reliable and solid back,so i expect a lot more of him this year in terms of production. Im going to be nice on the Lions and just say there offensive of line is...well...bad at best. The defense is still pretty bad as well,so i see this season as being a "dont go 0-16 season again",rather than a "Were going all the way" season.

Player to watch- Josh Morgan

Josh morgan has been guaranteed by his coach the starting WR for the 49rs. This is a great draft pick in your fantasy league because he has a lot of value, and is way down on peoples rankings. If Frank Gore stays healthy he will open up the passing game for S.Hill, resulting in more Josh Morgan fantasy points.

Monday, August 31, 2009

Player to watch-WR Hakeem Nicks

Rookie Hakeem Nicks has racked up 8 catches for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns this preseason, making him 3rd in the league for receiving yards this preseason. With Plaxico Burress gone Hakeem has a great chance as emerging as Eli Mannings number one target. I know its only preseason, but this is the time where players emerege. Just look at Steve Slaton. He was a middle round draft pick in the NFL draft, and didnt have much expectations to make an impact. But because of his impressive preseason they decided to start the rookie. And Steve ended up having a very impressive season as well. Hakeem Nicks, the first round 29th overall pick is a deep sleeper pick at anyones fantasy draft.

#18. B.Scaife
#19. V.Davis
#20. T.Sheffler

Breakout canidate
B.Celek- Donovan McNabb likes to throw to his tight ends, but the reason we havnt seen that charactor in Donovan is because his tight end L.J Smith had been plagued with injurys ever since Philly got him. Look back to when the Eagles had tight end Chad Lewis. He was McNabbs favorite target untill he left. Brent Celek looked very impressive in the playoffs racking up 19 catches 151 yards and 3 touchdowns. He appears to be McNabbs new redzone target. With L.J Smith in Baltimore, Brent is the starting tight end in philly. Expect him to rack up the touchdowns for your fantasy team.

BIGGEST bust for 09
T.Sheffler- He put up good numbers last year, but you cant expect him to do the same this year. Coach Josh McDaniels loves to use multiple receiver sets, so dont expect him to be in on every play. The Bronkos have so many runningbacks you have to predict they are going to use them. K.Moreno,C.Buckhalter,P.Hillis,and others on the depth chart. Coach Josh McDaniels is going to try and get his moneys worth, and use his runningbacks. Also, with B.Marshell suspended, your going to see more coverage on T.Sheffler. So...dont expect Tony to put up last years numbers.

Sleeper
B.Pettigrew- The all out beast rookie,is my favorite sleeper for this position. Not only is he a good blocker, but he can catch too. Watch for him to run delayed routes, where he starts out blocking then runs a route. You can expect C.Johnson to be the main focouse on the Lions offense, which makes Brandon less noticed. He will be open on most plays, making him a valuable draft pick.

Dont go to early for TEs

I know, your tempted to draft Jason Witten or Antonio Gates in the third or fourth round. But there are so many tight ends out on the draft board in the middle and late rounds. I recently did a mock draft online with a 12 team league, and Zach Miller,John Carlson,Dustin Keller, and Brent Celek were all available at the 9th round! Fill up your depth first. Get your runningbacks, quarterback, and receivers, and maybe even a back-up runningback before you draft your tight end. Trust me,there will be plenty tight ends that produce points in the middle to late rounds. You will be crying sunday when your starting runningback or receiver goes down, and you wasted your 4th round pick on Antonio Gates. FILL YOUR DEPTH FIRST

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Fantasy football- Go WR first

There are several reasons to go with a wide receiver first.

-There are so many descent runningbacks out their you can get in the third round or fourth. You can expect Ryan Grant, Darren McFadden,Chris Wells, Joseph Addai, Larry Johnson, and so many others available at that time.

-Its statisticly proven that Having 2 Elite Receivers on your team is better than having a good runningback, and an average runningback.

-Runningbacks get the ball all the time, which makes them injury prone. Dont expect your runningback to make it through the whole season without getting dinged up.

-Every year more and more teams are splitting carries with there runningbacks. D.Williams/J.Stewart, C.Johnson/L.White,whos next? LT/Darren Sproles, and Brian Westbrook/L.Mcoy? Their are so many teams that split carries rather than having a workhorse.

-Expectations are high for your runningback, making him a high risk for a bust season. He could have had 1200 yards last season and get 1000 the next for no apparent reason.

-There are not a lot of options for receivers in the middle rounds. Maybe L.Coles,L.Moore,B.Berrian? Your going to have a hard time getting a stud receiver in the middle to late rounds.

I encourage you to go Wide receiver first if you dont have the top 6 picks. I also encourage you to go wide receiver first AND second if their is another elite receiver available. Their are about 8 elite receivers. Get at least one of them and you will be successful.

Why I like Larry Johnson for my fantasy team

“If they wanted to get rid of me,” Johnson said Thursday, “they had a chance to get rid of me.” Larry's attitude has changed dramaticly this offseason and training camp. He praised his GM saying the addition of Matt Cassle, Amoni toomer, and Ashlie Lelie were great transactions, and is happy with the staff. Now that Larrys happy,we will be seeing greater performance from the 6'2 running back. I went to the Chiefs training camp a few weeks ago, and watching Larry Johnsons work ethic gave me the impression that he wanted to win.In my opinion he pushed himself harder then anyone else on the team. He and his teamates want to go 16-0, espessially Larry. Not only does he just have a positive attitude, but in 2008 he was on pace for 1165 yards and 6 touchdowns untill his...troubles. Those are desent numbers that will rise in 09. The past is behind Larry, and you can expect the old Larry to be back.

Michael Vick- A waste of money and depth

I am still confused why the Eagles would sign Michael Vick. Whats the point if he is just going to cause problems with the fans, and in the locker room. Is Andy Reid really willing to throw away all of those Eagles fans that are dog lovers, for a pathetic wild cat formation? The signing of Michael Vick was un-called for. We dont need him in philly, dont want him in philly, and theres no reason for him to be in philly. Im sure McNabb tells people he is fine with the signing of Vick, but inside he has to feel a little betrade by coach Reid. Michael Vick will tear this franchise apart, just watch.

Who will win super bowl 09?

The team that has the best chance of winning super bowl 09 is the Philadelphia Eagles. McNabb is hungry for a superbowl win. He put up great numbers last year and is healthy this offseason. The Eagles made a great second round pick in the NFL draft with Lesean Mcoy. With depth at running back, Westbrooks health concerns will not be as big of an issue. I expect Mcoy to be a good deep sleeper pick in fantasy football drafts. He will for sure take stress off Westbrook and take some carries. McNabb has the best receiving core of his life. Their is so much speed at the position with Desean Jackson, Kevin Curtis, and rookie Jeremy Maclin. They also have a goal line threat at that position with 6'4 Hank Basket. Not to mention the best slot receiver in the NFL with Jason Avant. The line lost two beasts this offseason, but signed two beasts. I expect McNabb to have more time to throw with Jason peters and Stacy Andrews protecting him. The defense sufferd a huge loss this offseason. The Absense of Brian Dawkins will definitly make an impact. The new defensive coordinator Mcdormott has pretty much the same philosiphy as Jim Johnson, so Im not to worried about the defensive scheme. The only question mark I have looking at the Eagles is the absense of Brian Dawkins. Can Quinten Demps really fill that void at saftey? Or if not Quinten Demps, the signing of saftey Sean Jones. The Eagles have all the tools for a super bowl run, the only question is, can they win when they get their?

Carnell Cadilac Williams named starter for Bucs

According to Troy Aikmen and Joe Buck, Carnell Williams will start for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this upcoming season. Williams looked very impressive last night against the Dolphins. A good sleeper pick not many people know about

Top 5 WR sleepers, top 5 busts, and breakouts

WR sleeper #1 D.Hixon- With Plaxico Burress gone you can expect for Hixon to put up No.1 WR numbers
#2 K.Walter- He has Andre Johnson playing opposite him, plus he has a quarterback who was on pace for more than 4400 yards threw the air last year. So expect defenses to focouse on Andre Johnson, and stopping steve slaton on the ground, leaving Kevin Walter wide open.
#3 D.Heyward-Bey- What people dont realize is he is going to be the number 1 option for J.Russle. He will be a solid pick for your team
#4 J.Morgan- With no Crabtree in the mix, you have to look at the 49rs depth chart. The only receiver their is Josh Morgan, so you can expect him to be the main man for Shaun Hill to pass to.
#5 T.Ginn- The speedy former first round draft pick is emerging as the number 1 receiver. He hauled in 790 yards and 2 touchdowns last year, and i expect him to explode on his 3rd year in the NFL. He is also my breakout canidate.

WR bust #1 L.Fitzgerald- I am extreamly afraid of the madden curse. Its happed to Eddie George, Daunte Cullpepper, Marshell Faulk, Michael Vick, Ray Lewis, Donovan McNabb, Vince Young, Brett Favre, and next....unfortunatly....Fitz and the steelers D
#2 C.Johnson DET- I dont think Johnson will put up similar numbers in 08 with Matt Stafford. I think he will have a good season, but not but you barganed for.
#3 T.Owens He just doesnt have the tools around him to be an elite WR this year. He is also ageing quite a bit going into his 14th year.
#4 T.Houshmanzadeh- Dont expect him to put up the same numbers he did in cincinati. Trust me, just dont
#5 L.Moore- With Colston back he will not get even close the attention he got last year from Drew Brees.

Break out canidate #1 M.Colston prediction 1100 yards, 8 TDs
#2 A.Boldin prediction 1344 yards, 16 TDs
#3 D.Jackson prediction 1100 yards 5 TDs

Top 3 breakout season canidates1.M.J.Drew- With Fred Taylor out of the mix, i expect MJD to put up 1470 yards and 16 TDs. 2.S.Jackson- He was on pace for 1376 yards and 9 touchdowns. Expect him to put up those numbers if he is healthy. 3.B.Jacobs- The giant was on pace for 1340 yards and 18 TDs when he was healthy. Now, without Derrick Ward in the mix, you can expect Jacobs to put up elite numbers as the workhorse.

Who im worried about: Brian Westbrook- He got injured in the offseason, plust the addition of Lesean Mcoy in the second round mite take away a few carries from the injury plagued Running back.

Why Andy Reid signed Michael Vick

The reason Andy Reid signed Vick in my opinion, is not because he is a talented football player. Its because he has two troubled sons who keep getting in trouble with the law. Reid saw his sons in Michael Vick, giving him the idea to sign him. If you ask me it was a bone headed decision. I mean, what it Vick going to do for the Eagles? Nothing except cause problems. Their are so many dog lovers out their, and so many of them are (were) Eagles fans. Also, talk about a confident booster for Donovan McNabb (Not). A waste of $1.6 mil. Nice job Andy Reid, nice job Eagles.

Who are QBs i like this year?

1.Tom Brady-I beleive he will have close success to his 2007 season

2.Matt Shaub-He has the talent around him to put up elite numbers. Before he got injured last season he was on pase for 4426 yards and 31 TDs

3.M.Ryan-He has a year under his belt, and the addition of Tony Gonzalaz will only bring up Ryans value

4.M.Hasselbeck-Im confident he will come back from his injury and return to 2007 form

5.J.Russle-He has been named starting QB going in to the 2009 season, fighting off Jeff Garcia. He has had a good preseason, and the addition of speedy WR Heyward-Bey will help his value grow in fantasy leagues

#1 bust of 2009

T.Romo- It has been proven with D.Mcnabb and Jeff Garcia, T.O ruins quarterbacks. I understand he has Roy williams, but......he isnt T.O. This will be a bad year for Tony Romo without his #1 target
